Business & Systems Analysis

In my college career, I worked with different partners and groups to design the system infrastructure for a non-profit organization. In the relevant classes, CIS 320 (Systems Analysis & Design) and CIS 420 (CIS Development Project), I analyzed the current system architecture with my team and developed suggestions for the client to use, giving them the requirements for said architecture and associated costs. Once the analysis was completed, my team designed a suggested website for the client and relevant documentation to the system. This development project was conducted on WordPress and was included in a pool of nine other potential websites. Included below are links to the project documents and other relevant information:

Final Project Management Plan DocumentDisclaimer: With this document, you will need to click the link and download the Word document to view the embedded file objects on your computer. This is related to The Thompson Project’s website design and system analysis in CIS 420. Collectively, we worked on the website pages and developed a mockup of what the organization’s website would look like. On this project, I was tasked with the following documents:

  • Statement of Work (page 4)
  • Project/Workstream Schedule (page 5)
  • Requirements Traceability Matrix (page 6)

Elaboration Specification – Final Document – This document contains the final specification for “The Rockstars” group from CIS 320 – Systems Analysis & Design for the client, Armond Thompson. It contains user diagrams, class diagrams, data dictionaries, and several technical aspects related to a system being made for The Thompson Project. There is also a table of contents to easily navigate through the document. In this project, I was tasked with the following elements of the document:

  • Use Case Diagrams #22-27 (page 7)
  • System Use Cases w/ Sequence Diagrams #22-27 (pages 53-63)
  • Window Navigation Diagram (page 101)
  • Screen Layouts – Data Capture Forms (pages 102-106)
  • User Interface Prototypes #21-27 (pages 125-129)

CIS 420 Final Client Demo Presentation – This presentation was conducted by the team, Tech Connect, to provide a system option for the client, Armond Thompson of The Thompson Project. It provided screenshots from the website and details about users donating to the organization, along with the budget of the project.

In the section below, I have links for the case studies I wrote in CIS 410 (Management of Information Systems). These documents include my analysis of different companies, including Porter’s Five Forces Analysis, organization structure, and proposed solutions to their identified issues:

  • Agrico – In this case study, an ethical analysis was conducted on the scenario where an Agrico employee could take the floppy disk from an open computer terminal, containing the source code for the software Agrico was renting through contract.
  • BAE Denver Airport – For this case study, the issues regarding implementation of an automated baggage system were identified and how the Denver Airport could have resolved them.
  • Burlington Northern – Within this case study, communication issues within the company and on the railroad were identified, along with alternative solutions to combat them.
  • Webvan – Finally, this case study focused on the company’s ambitious expansions and how it brought about difficulties in their management; alternative solutions were proposed.

Finally, below is my IT Strategic Assessment Report on the Chevy Service department at Bachman Auto Group (CIS 410 – Management of Information Systems). This document is not completed just yet but is dedicated on the site as it is relevant to my analysis work. The document includes a table of contents to easily find specific sections or reports. Within this document, I have conducted research on the Service department and their systems in place (computers technicians use, network connections, and more) along with vulnerabilities in their environment.
